Sophia '22 Receives 3-Chair Turn on "The Voice"

If you’ve been following NBC’s “The Voice” you might have seen a familiar face—MA’s own Sophia Bromberg '22. Earlier this week she received a “3- chair turn” from John Legend, Ariana Grande, and Kelly Clarkson by singing a rendition of “Heather” by Conan Gray.

Her passion for music started young (she’s been singing as long as she can remember) and her musical development has been supported by our community. “The classes at MA have definitely allowed me to cultivate a nuanced appreciation of music that I didn't have before I attended high school,” says Bromberg. Now a senior, she has taken courses ranging from World Music to American Roots, and is currently enrolled in Advanced Bands, which allows her the opportunity to compose her own original songs.

“My focus at MA can't really be described in one simple sentence; however, if I were to define it, it would be a mixture of all of the arts and enhancing my abilities to employ curiosity into all of my classes,” says Bromberg.

The date for Sophia’s next performance on “The Voice” has not been released, but keep your eyes on NBC Channel 11 (Bay Area) and Hulu for streaming.
