The Master Class program is an opportunity for parents to participate in classes taught by members of our dynamic MA faculty. Each year, our aim is to bring you teachers from across the disciplines for an evening of learning and fun. After attending Master Class, past participants have been overheard saying that they would love to return to high school!
Our programs begin with an informal gathering at 6:45 p.m., followed by the class which runs from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Look for announcements of these events in This Week at MA (TW@MA). In the meantime, please mark your calendar with the dates of the year's planned Master Class evenings. Further exciting details will follow!

An Evening of Exploration and Creativity in the Design Lab
Thursday, March 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the Design Lab
The Design Lab is one of Marin Academy’s newest spaces and one brimming with opportunities for you to let your creativity out into the world. Spend an evening with Sachi DeCou and Barry Beach getting familiar with some of the fun and functional tools available in the space, from the laser cutter to the hack saw to the calipers. Once we’ve gotten to know the tools, we’ll get our hands busy in exploring the concept of 3D thinking and creating our own three dimensional sculptures using simple materials. You will never see paper, cardboard and pipe cleaners the same way again!
Barry Beach is a sculptor and member of the Visual Arts Department where he teaches Visual Arts 1 and 3D Thinking. His education includes an MFA from San Francisco Art Institute and BFA from Rhode Island School of Design. Sachi DeCou is a designer, a member of the Technology and Math Departments, teaches computer science and designs and facilitates the Design Lab. Sachi received a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Chemistry from Hampshire College and a Masters in Design Strategy from California College of the Arts.
