The Marin Academy Parents' Association (MAPA) organizes activities and events that provide parents and guardians opportunities to get involved and stay connected with Marin Academy. Our activities enhance school life for students, faculty, staff, parents and the larger community.

A Very Warm Welcome to MAPA!

Every parent or guardian is a member of the Marin Academy Parents' Association. Find a couple of events (or more!) that look interesting to you and follow the advice you give your children: jump in with both feet!
Get Involved!
MAPA coordinates a myriad of events and we invite all MA parents and guardians to get involved! Some events occur during weekdays and others are in the evening or on weekends. Please explore the Volunteer Form and check all activities that interest you. Don't worry, you're not committing yourself to anything. You're just putting yourself on a list to hear about ways to get involved.
Stay Connected!
  • Parents' Quarterly Updates (formerly MAPA General Meetings) are a great way to keep your finger on the pulse of MA. Each meeting features an update from Head of School, Travis Brownley, plus other faculty and staff will discuss current happenings on campus. 2017-18 meeting dates are listed below.
  • Join us at MA events - whether it’s your individual Class Party, a parent hike or family service event, a Parent Education evening, or our all-community fundraising event, MA Celebrates (formerly Market Night). Each of these is a great opportunity to engage with your fellow parents or guardians and the full Marin Academy community that is such an integral part of your student’s life.
  • Make TW@MA, the all-school weekly newsletter required reading - you’ll be glad you did! This is where you will find a wealth of information about MA events, calendar updates and more! You can also connect with Marin Academy on Facebook.
High school years go by quickly. Don't wait to get involved in MA's community. MAPA is an integral part of the inclusive community that is Marin Academy and we depend on your involvement. I look forward to an exciting year together. Please say hello at one of the many events on campus this year and feel free to contact me via email with any questions or comments.

MAPA Outreach and Inclusion

MAPA Parent Outreach and Inclusion works to ensure that Marin Academy Parents Association (MAPA) and the MA parent body is inclusive, open to and welcoming of every MA parent/guardian, by identifying barriers to inclusion and working to eliminate them. Join us for events and education that highlight the diverse families within the MA community.

Parent Education

We are sorry, but this event is at capacity. We are no longer accepting RSVPs.

Most Likely to Succeed? What it takes for teens to be happy while fulfilling their potential (and how parents can help!)

Wednesday, March 28 at 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the BBLC Lecture Hall. Join us for refreshments starting at 6:30 p.m.

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Christine Carter, a highly sought-after speaker and fellow MA parent, back to the Parent Ed speaker series! Drawing on psychology, sociology and neuroscience, Dr. Carter will share practical tips for nurturing both achievement and happiness in teenagers today. Her presentation will cover:

  • how technology and social media are undermining our kids' focus and what we can do to help
  • how to increase our teens' tolerance for discomfort and disappointment so they can better rise to challenges
  • how to focus on our teens' strengths rather than helping them compensate for weaknesses
  • how to help teens combat feelings of entitlement, self-centeredness, and anxiety
Dr. Christine Carter, PhD, writes the award-winning blog, Brave Over Perfect, and is syndicated on the Greater Good, Huffington Post, and She is the author of Raising Happiness and The Sweet Spot: How to Achieve More By Doing Less, and is a Senior Fellow at the Greater Good Science Center, UC Berkeley. Click here for a link to a recent article by Dr. Carter, published in US News.
This will be an engaging, informative evening with a discussion you won't want to miss!
