What if our teens could finish high school with one life skill that would help them thrive in any life circumstance they may encounter? Our speaker, Dave Mochel, calls that skill "mindful self-regulation." As an international expert in the field of mindfulness training, Dave Mochel has spent thirty years teaching principles and practices derived from research in the areas of human development, neuroscience, and psychology.
In his talk, Dave shared with us some of the profound yet simple skills based on awareness and compassion that lead to:
- Greater sense of well-being
- Improved ability to deal with stress
- Reduced anxiety
- Greater connection to goals, values, and sense of purpose
Dave taught human development and neuroscience for over twenty years before founding Applied Attention Coaching and Consulting. He now works with individuals and teams all over the world to give them the tools they need to live and work peacefully, positively, and purposefully. Dave has degrees in biology and geology from Williams College, a Master’s in Humanistic and Multicultural Education from SUNY New Paltz, and he has completed a clinical internship in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.
