"Metamorphoses” by Mary Zimmerman is based on Ovid’s Metamorphoses written in 8 A.D. and other, contemporary writings, including the poems of Rainer Maria Rilke. First produced in 1996, the play was a hit on Broadway and Zimmerman won a Tony award for her direction. The play intertwines a number of Greek myths that focus on the themes of love and transformation. The play is, by turns, humorous and
poignant and features an ensemble of actors in multiple roles. Features live music including original compositions by MA musicians. Parents use discretion - some language and content may not be appropriate for young children.
