Interdisciplinary education breaks free of traditional institutional constraints and boundaries, such as departmental structures and nationally-established curricula, and seeks to utilize and integrate the methodology and training of specific academic fields to generate deeper content understanding for students. This can mean blending uncommonly associated fields, such as history and math, as well as exploring the intersectionality between distinct fields within the same genre, such as physics and biology.

The focus of instruction is student-centered and constructivist in its approach; this allows students to pursue and satisfy their curiosity by generating their own questions about a subject or a problem and then working to develop distinguished answers. Interdisciplinary education supports innovation, inquiry, and imagination.
