She has really enjoyed her Crossroads experience, and last year co-founded the Crossroads Speech and Debate team, which prepares middle school students from Davidson Middle School and Venetia Valley School to compete at the county-wide Margie Burke Speech Competition.

I was raised in Marin County and attended Redwood High School. I’m a dentist and a dental educator. I believe that an education is the greatest gift one can have in a lifetime. The MA community has been an amazing place, and I would love to answer any questions you might have.

My daughter is in the 11th grade. She dances at school in MADCO and plays volleyball and lacrosse. She also does yoga outside of school. She is an Admissions Fellow and participates in Crossroads and the Students of Color Club. 

My son is in 9th grade, and he plays basketball, lacrosse, and tennis. He also rock climbs and plays volleyball outside of school. He is in the chess club, the mountain biking club, and the Students of Color Club.

My youngest is a member of the Young Brothers, the Black Student Union (BSU), the Mountain Bike team, and the Pickleball Club. He is also a member of Belonging@MA. He also signed up to play baseball and basketball, and is in the music program at MA where he plays the trumpet. 

While at MA, my oldest was a member of the cross-country team and participated in Crossroads. He also attended outings, including the sunrise Mt. Tam hike and the SF Scavenger Hunt, and had a brief stint on the track and field team. 

I grew up in San Francisco and have always lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, from the City to the Peninsula to the East Bay and now Marin. As a graduate of the University of San Francisco who works as an educator at a public high school in Marin County, I am knowledgeable about a variety of schools and educational programs in the area. Additionally, I enjoy baking and reading, so I am always happy to share recipes and book recommendations.

My sons have been involved in cross country, lacrosse, Trandisciplinary Learning Program, Crossroads tutoring, music, student government, and many other clubs and activities.  We live in Mill Valley and have loved being part of different carpools—it is a great way for students to get to know students in different grades and become interested in sports and activities.

I live with my husband, 3 sons (one now in college), an active dog, and a lazy cat.  Our family has moved around a lot, from LA to Marin, Marin to Connecticut, and back again to Marin!  I was a lawyer, but have been focused on volunteering in our community—particularly in our schools and local government—for over a decade. I love to hike, travel, and cheer on the MA Wildcats at lacrosse games, cross country meets, band concerts, and art shows.  Please feel free to reach out with any questions!

My son has participated in multiple MA sports teams. He is now in the thick of water polo season.  He has played soccer and was also on the swim team last year.  He is currently active in the admissions student ambassador program, which is a group of students who lead school tours to potential students.  He is also part of the Crossroads program, teaching middle school kids in the local area about financial literacy.  He is enjoying the Improv class this fall. It is his first performing arts class as a high schooler, and he is interested in being part of the One Act Plays this winter. He gets a ride every day through the MA carpool system, and he has loved meeting the upper-class men during his commute to school. 

I moved to California 7 years ago with my Australian husband.  Our family of 3 teenage boys came from Miami, and we have really enjoyed our big move.  I spent most of my life in South Florida, including staying local and attending the University of Miami. I was born in the Philippines and have a love for exploring all the best Filipino restaurants in the Bay Area.  I also try to find time to go on regular hikes and have recently picked up playing mahjong.  You can ask me anything regarding living in the city and managing kids attending Marin schools.  I am open to any and all questions regarding the high school selection process.

My son is my oldest child and a first-generation American. He has a soccer for life mantra, very Ted Lasso style. He has played for SF United for about 7 years and plans to try out for the MA soccer team. He is a member of several school clubs, including spike ball, pickleball, baking and movie club, Young Brothers, and BSU. He is a member of the Rhythm  and Harmony Band on campus, playing the saxophone. He participated in the pre-orientation Surfing Outing before school began and hopes to go on many more outings. He is in a carpool led by a student in the morning to school, and he takes the school bus home in the evening.

I was born and raised in Egypt and have lived in Central California since coming to the US. I enjoy actively participating and volunteering at various school functions through the Main Academy Parents Association (MAPA), admissions, and the MA Wildcat Wear Sales.

My oldest son participates in cross country and baseball and does the Crossroads tutoring program in the winter. He loves being in the Honors Math program and is in the Marin Academy Research Collaborative (MARC) Applied Genetics Research class. He is also a TA for the Human Development class and really enjoys leading the class and getting to know/supporting incoming 9th graders. As a freshman/sophomore, he went on many outings and had great experiences with that as well. 

My younger son is planning on playing baseball in the spring and continues to play tennis outside of school. He loves being in the Honors Math program as well and has enjoyed the challenge. He’s loving acclimating to MA and feels very supported and engaged in his first year and is looking forward to exploring more. 

I am a serial school/sports volunteer and have loved being on various boards as the kids have grown up. My favorite hobbies are travel, cooking, talking, and tennis. I’m obsessed with tennis and play a lot, I and have met many MA parents on the courts over the last few years! MA has been such a supportive, fun, and friendly environment, and I’ve very much enjoyed participating in the Marin Academy Parents Association (MAPA) and getting to know so many families.

We (mom Michelle from Belgium, my husband Al from Florida, and our half Belgian kids, one who loves chocolate, and one who loves fries) live in Emeryville and commute on the East Bay bus to MA.

Our son graduated from MA and is a junior at the Business School at Santa Clara University. He played basketball, did track, and took 4 years of private violin classes through the Music After School program. He was also the class rep for his senior class.

Our daughter is a senior at MA. She has been very involved with the MA theater program since she started at MA. She is also a teaching assistant for Hum Dev class and leads the Queer affinity club.

Our students do many activities. Our eldest has been on Girl’s Golf Team (4 years) and Girl’s Swim Team (1 year),  dances competitively outside of school, is a Crossroads Tutor,  an Admissions Student Ambassador, and she and her sister co-founded the MA Senior Citizen Club (that works with a Memory Care Facility in Marin). She drives a carpool from the city so feel free to ask me about carpools and commuting.

Her 10th-grade sister plays Varsity Field Hockey (she learned at MA!) and is on the MA Track Team, is an Admissions Student Ambassador, dances and acts outside of school, is on the student paper and debate team, is a Crossroads Tutor, and a MA Senior Citizen Club co-founder. Both girls are in the MA Band Program which is AMAZING!

My husband Craig and I are from the East Coast, but SF has been our home for almost 30 years. MA has been an amazing school for both girls and an amazing community for all of us.  When we aren’t in SF, we love to spend time in Montana hiking and skiing.  Please feel free to reach out with any questions!

My 10th grader is an active leader in the Young Women of Color Club. She has explored various extracurricular activities, including dance last year and theatre this year.  She also participates in Model UN and serves as an Admissions Student Ambassador. She is a dedicated athlete, participating in soccer and cross-country.

My alum was an active participant in the MARC program and consistently engaged in cross-country and soccer during her four years at MA. She was also a leader of the Young Women of Color Club and an Admissions Student Ambassador. 

My family has lived in Marin/San Rafael for 16 years, allowing me to develop a deep understanding of the community. From preschool at Icecream and Shoe to education in the Miller Creek school district and involvement in various sports teams and clubs, I am well-equipped to answer any questions you may have.
