Cost: $1425 (free for MA students receiving at least 25% tuition assistance); fees include daily lunch
Want to increase your confidence and fluency with mathematical concepts and skills required in MA's math program? Want to get a head start on the reading, writing, and thinking skills you will need in your ninth-grade English class? Want to meet other incoming students and get familiar with the Marin Academy campus? Sign up here before May 22.
Spend eight days over two weeks on MA's campus where you'll experience the following:
Math sessions will introduce you to diverse topics and areas, including geometric and algebraic equations and problem-solving. The format and style of the sessions will match the collaborative design that is a hallmark of the MA math program, as you'll work individually and collaboratively to complete explorations and activities, play games, and develop your numeracy and mathematical skills. Work in these sessions will be individualized to meet students where they are – whether that is refreshers of topics that students may have seen in middle school or students looking to challenge themselves with extra practice.
Reading and writing sessions will draw on the themes, assignments, and activities of the Marin Academy ninth-grade English curriculum to prepare you to enter high school armed with the skills and strategies you need to get off to a strong start. Particular focus will be placed on being able to read and annotate texts, as well as how to craft an analytical framework for an essay.
Organizational sessions will focus on helping you build a foundation of organization skills through discussions about/practice in how to plan for minor and major assignments, experimenting with different strategies to keep track of assignment deadlines, designing studying strategies, and more.
Students are responsible for their own transportation, and lunch will be provided daily. Students must sign up for the full two weeks; partial registration isn't possible.
