Choosing a college can be the first major decision that you will make. Like all major adult decisions, much research, thought, and discussion should take place as the decision is being made. MA's faculty and administration stand ready to help guide you through the process of decision making and to help you learn and grow. But the choices, the decision, and the responsibilities are ultimately yours and your family's.
In alignment with Marin Academy’s broader educational philosophy, the college counseling office strives to cultivate trust with students. We define success here based on your self-awareness. This self-awareness is a product of your maturation over an extended period of time only achieved by you. Like all MA endeavors, we pose questions and help you reflect, but you ultimately provide the answers.
Each of you will vary a bit in the timetable you follow. This process--and it is a process--changes for every student. As a result, our office provides individual attention and support from identifying your interests, helping to begin a broad college search given these interests, narrowing down the college list, using self-discovery to guide you through the application process, and ultimately answering your questions to feel confident about your final postsecondary choice. The more communication we have, the easier the process will be. Please do not ever hesitate to stop by our office to ask a question.
We are very much looking forward to working with you.
