A collaboration of MA's Climate Action Council, Community Action, and MAPA is launching MA Gardening for Food Security, a project to address food insecurity suffered by families in Marin County. As part of this project, we are making available packages of seeds, soil, and containers for MA families to grow vegetables and herbs at their own homes, and later, when harvested, bring the food to MA to be distributed to local families in need.

MA families can freely these obtain seeds, soil, and containers in the MA Circle in front of Thacher Hall. Seeds available include:

  • Winter Vegetables: Lettuces, Kale, Spinach, Sugar Snap Peas, Carrots, Beets, Arugula, Cabbage, and Collard Greens
  • Herbs: Cilantro, Parsley, Dill, Oregano, Thyme, and Fennel

Please see a full description of the MA Gardening for Food Security Project here. For further information, please contact MA science teacher and H.D. Thoreau Faculty Chair, Mark Stefanski.
