Admissions Mailings
Every year the admissions office sends out over 800 brochures to prospective students.  Chat with parents of all grades while you assemble these packets to be mailed. Various sessions occur throughout the fall with the highest concentration of mailings in the first few weeks of school.  Generally, 4 days during the first week of school (2 hours each); one day a week through early October (2 hours each); one day in December for 2 hours.  Volunteer for one or multiple sessions!
*Open Houses – Sept. 24, Nov. 13, and Dec. 7, 2016
The Admissions office offers Saturday Open Houses in September and November and a Tuesday evening Open House in December where prospective students can come visit the campus with their families, meet teachers, and hear Travis and our students speak.  Help check in prospective students and make sure the Open House runs smoothly. Be an enthusiastic voice for MA.  Approximately 32 volunteers assist with the September and November Open House days while 4 volunteers assist with the December Open House evening.
Tours (open to Sophomore, Junior, and Senior parents only)
Work with the MA Admissions team and be the first to welcome prospective parents and students to MA. After attending a training session and giving tours with experienced guides, lead tour groups around MA, providing a parent’s perspective. Two or three parent volunteers co-lead each tour. The morning tour and Q&A sessions last approximately 3.5 hours. Volunteers sign-up for 3-4 visit dates in the fall, based upon their availability. Note: Parents with 8th grade applicants are not eligible to participate during the application year.
*Welcome Day – May 6, 2017
Every spring on a Saturday, MA welcomes accepted students to campus for a day of orientation activities.  Help set up the site, register visitors, mingle throughout the day, and clean up.   See next year’s Freshmen first!  Approximately 20 volunteers work for shifts of 2-4 hours.
*Annual Fund Volunteers
Outreach: Reach out to fellow parents to raise support for the Annual Fund, which helps bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of an MA education. There will be one evening meeting in the early fall, where you will learn more about the Annual Fund’s importance to MA and you will be given the tools necessary to encourage other MA families to participate. After that, outreach is made at a time and place of your choosing, usually by phone or by email. Annual Fund volunteers play a vital role in providing our students with a one-of-a-kind, phenomenal education. If you enjoy connecting with fellow parents and want to make an impact, join our team today!

Mailings: Occasionally, the advancement office sends out mailings to members of the MA community. This is another opportunity to chat with parents of all grades while you assemble packets to be mailed. Volunteer on an as-needed basis throughout the year.

The Parent Ed is a small working group that collaborates with the administration to bring speakers to our community. There will be one annual brainstorming event to generate ideas for the upcoming year.
Support and/or participate in two events run by the Center for Community Action, which encourages students to think about problems in their communities, to question how to make improvements, to consider outlets for involvement, and to create a plan for service that fits their interests and respective schedules. The events include a November’s Thanksgiving Food Drive and a March Family Community Service Project benefiting local San Rafael agencies.

Participate in MAPA’s efforts to build an inclusive culture with opportunities for education around all facets of diversity honored at MA:  race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, thought, socio-economic circumstances, learning styles and religious belief. Help MAPA plan events to encourage our diverse community of parents/guardians to connect with each other throughout the year.
Periodically throughout the year, parents are invited to show off their culinary talents at school events, such as Communication Night (November) and Parent Outreach evenings.
Event Host
MA occasionally feels that a private home would be the best setting for an event.  If you are willing to open up your home, volunteer here.
Film/Videographer/Editor Skills
Our children do so many exciting things – on the athletic field, in the studio, on the stage – that we’d love to have people help document their achievements.
On-Call Volunteer
We’ll contact you for any event that needs that extra bit of help!
Bilingual Support
If you speak a second language, support MA in various capacities helping Admissions to Advancement by being a translator at MA events and/or providing written interpretation for fellow MA parents.
If those aren’t enough things for you to do, feel free suggest others.  We are always looking for ways to involve parents with special talents and interests
