Technology
Marin Academy integrates technology throughout the curriculum. Students utilize technology in many different ways throughout their four years at MA. It is our goal to graduate media-literate students who have learned to use technology as a tool, where appropriate, in learning.
In order to provide ubiquitous computing for students and faculty Marin Academy maintains multiple computer labs which are connected to a high speed Internet connection via a fiber-optic "backbone" running throughout campus.
Computer labs and classrooms are equipped with Macintosh and Windows computers and peripherals; slide/negative and photo scanners; black and white laser and photo-quality color printers; CD-ROM and DVD recorders; and additional audio and visual digital storage devices are all part of a wide range of technology available for student learning. Depending on the subject students and faculty have access to a wide range of professional and educational software from media production to image processing to data manipulation.
All members of the community have access to an e-mail account and digital storage facilities. (Parental permission is required before students may be given network, Internet, and E-mail access. We are very excited to open our new library and classroom building in the 2006 - 2007 academic year. Among the new features in this facility is the new Smart Box technology for multimedia presentations.
