PEER RESOURCES
Peer Resources is a group of students dedicated to understanding themselves and their community with a common goal of increasing communication about issues that pertain to high school life.
This group of 14 students includes sophomores, juniors and seniors who meet every Wednesday to explore various topics and build group facilitation skills. Leading the group is the School Counselor and the Human Development teacher who is also the Dean of Multicultural Life.
Events
Peer Resources organizes two annual events: “Communications Evening” in the fall and “Uncensored” in the spring. “Communications Evening” has been the centerpiece for Peer Resources for the last 6 years. It is an evening for parents and students to engage in lively conversations about high school life. “Uncensored: Conversations We’re Not Having” was created in 2007. Student leaders along with the Peer Resources group invite local independent and parochial schools to participate in a day-long series of workshops that examine issues of multiculturalism, inclusion, equity and social justice
PR members are also involved in assisting the new freshmen transition to MA. This includes facilitating games and bonding activities at the freshmen orientation overnights and at the New Family Welcome Day. Peer Resources members sit on panels in the freshmen seminars to talk about preparing for finals. Additionally, Peer Resources may function as a sounding board for the deans group and/or head of school to provide student feedback on issues that may come up during the school year.
Applications are accepted from rising sophomores in the spring to fill the vacancies left by graduating seniors.
Peer Resources strives to foster healthy and open communication in the MA community.
