Eco Cafe News
The MA Café Committee works to lead the way in fulfilling the purpose of the MA Café: to promote a healthy, sustainable relationship with food. Through integrating into the life of the school nutrition education, garden experiences, composting, and the purchase, preparation, and consumption of nutritious food, the MA Café, in partnership with the wider MA community, strives to help establish and sustain life-long healthy eating habits for every member of our community.

The initial task of the Café Committee was to write a set of guidelines to be used in the process of hiring a caterer for the 2007-08 school year. These guidelines were approved by the Head of School and Business Manager, and they currently serve as a set of compass points for fulfilling the purpose of the Café. The Café Committee is currently working to help our caterer, Acre Gourmet, and the wider MA community to partner together in achieving a sustainable relationship with food. We help coordinate the Café’s services with the garden, composting, and local Marin farms. We work in consultation with the Center for Ecoliteracy and we are currently working to expand our school’s community partnership with Marin Organic, an association of organic producers in Marin County.
