Marin Academy asks every individual to think, to question and to create. Our mission invites reflection and demands action, creating a vibrancy that captures your attention and imagination. Both in the classroom and outside of it, students strive to make a difference and put their education to work in the world. A great school's power and promise comes from its ability to transform students. At MA, we ask students to participate in their own transformation.
One of the hallmarks of a Marin Academy education is our attention to each individual. We carefully consider the best steps for each of our students, taking into account who they are and where they want to be. Each year, with more skills, knowledge, and experience, students become the architects of their own education. At the same time, they explore their role and responsibilities as members of a community that values participation and commitment. In their time at MA, students are activists, scholars, artists, and athletes.
Marin Academy traditions extend our values of engagement and inquiry. Our Conference on Democracy brings outside speakers to campus to explore perspectives on political, social, environmental, and economic issues. Minicourse, a week spent outside of the classroom, provides the opportunity for experiential learning, such as climbing and caving in Oregon or teaching children in Northern Mexico.
As you navigate our website, you'll sample just some of what Marin Academy has to offer, but no pictures or words can come close to capturing the warmth, enthusiasm, and sense of purpose that characterizes our community. Whether you are familiar with or new to MA, I hope that you will be in touch—or, better yet, come visit us!
