Volunteering

Volunteering: Opportunities

Crossroads is a year-round program. While during the summer sessions the program is supported by paid teachers and assistants, we rely primarily on volunteers during the academic year. There are two major ways for volunteers to get involved: the After-School Tutorial program and the Saturday School program.

The After-School Tutorial Program happens on Marin Academy's campus on Monday and Thursday afternoons from 2:30 PM to 4:45 PM. Volunteer tutors are matched with one or two Crossroads students to help them complete homework, reinforce good study habits and engage in recreational activities.

The Saturday School program happens on Marin Academy's campus roughly once per month during the academic year from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. These sessions feature a range of educational activities that in the past have included outside speakers, presentations, film discussions, athletic pursuits, and teambuilding activities. Volunteers help by leading small groups, setting up spaces, and assisting the presenters.

The 5K Fun Run/Walk is our annual fundraiser. Open to the public, the Fun Run/Walk is a great outdoor event for the casual walker, the avid roadrunner and everyone in between. Volunteers engage in a range of tasks to make the event run smoothly like registering participants handing cups of water, directing runners/walkers along the course, and tracking race results.
