Applying: Admissions Process
Students who are currently in fifth grade, live in the Canal, and attend a school in the San Rafael City Schools district are eligible to apply to the Crossroads program. (Students in sixth or seventh grade may also apply for a more limited number of spots.)
Applying to Crossroads begins with a written application that includes a student statement, a parent/guardian statement, a recommendation from a teacher, and a transcript request form. Applications are made available at the Information Night in April. Additionally, a number of copies are given to the following San Rafael elementary schools:
- Bahia Vista Elementary
- Coleman Elementary
- Laurel Dell Elementary
- San Pedro Elementary
- Venetian Valley
When your application is received, you will be invited to attend a brief interview at Canal Alliance. The Crossroads admissions committee then meets to review all applications with a range of criteria in mind. These include motivation, ambition, energy, work ethic, a positive spirit, academic potential, and the willingness to commit to the full three years of the program.
