About MA

Academic Program

Marin Academy’s curriculum is rigorously college preparatory with highly developed requirements in all academic areas. The academic program is well developed and broad in scope, offering 110 courses including more than 60 electives across all disciplines with Honors and Advanced Placement offerings in every department.

Recognizing that participation in the arts has a direct, positive impact on students’ academic work, Marin Academy is one of few schools in the country with a two-year arts requirement for all students. With 32 full-time courses in the arts, students take advantage of opportunities in music, dance, and theater, and explore media such as filmmaking and animation, digital music, photography, videography, and multimedia.

The average class size is 15.

Marin Academy’s co-curricular programs include an ambitious outdoor education program, a service learning program, a required week of experiential education each spring, and a highly-developed interscholastic athletic program. The school also supports the need for ongoing growth and challenges for its students through a number of special programs including: independent study, senior projects, international studies, and study abroad.
